The Voyage
Lauren Field
Once I had a plan - so watertight it couldn't fail.
I'd make my fortune - get my man, and on a gentle breeze through life we'd sail.
There'd be a time when troubles fade (could it be - could it be real)
And the endless struggles end (take me there oh take me there)
When the last debt has been paid - no longer sailing against the wind.
Chorus
But that's the route not taken - those are unchartered seas.
An unread section of the map that I never dare look at for fear of what I'd see
And there lies love un-tasted - that was never meant for me
Another fight I never fought - a ship that didn't leave the port - a haven from the wide open sea
I feel the cool wind in my hair (blowing all my cares away)
And salty sea spray on my face (falling gentle as the wind)
We offer up our silent prayer - and into warmer climes we make haste
Chorus
And that's the route we've taken - these are unchartered seas -
Another section of the map that I really must look at - no fear of what I'd see
And there's the love I tasted - it was always meant for me
From the main sail to the mast - through calm waters we pass
From haven to the wide open sea
Once I had a plan - so watertight it couldn't fail - I’d make my fortune, get my man
And on a gentle breeze through life we’d sail.
